The S's who murdered Democracy!
Sarin and Sandeep. These are the names that crowd the columns of the state's psyche these days. I wish one of them had done something good for society other than making this intolerable cacophony that has done nothing but make meaningless headlines to an otherwise nonchalant population.
Under these people, the political estate in Kerala has once again proven that their words are mere rhetoric of convenience, with the flagrant flouting of social principles, if any were left. Here we have two identical characters who were commentators and ebullient warriors who defended the dogma they both represented. Some of their outbursts made
terabytes on social media and the mainstream media loved them for the viewership that fetched them monthly salaries and increments.
Here comes November and the elections, and we find these two
shamelessly switching sides and joining the same people their ire was directed
at all these years. Dr Sarin and Sandeep Warrier seemingly stood hard for their
principles until they decided they had outgrown their parties and dogmas.
Why did they switch so suddenly? Shahrukh Khan once said,
"Please don't do this to me on a Friday!" referring to political
blockades on his cinema and attempts of blackmail on the eve of a release. For
these scheming rats, this was the Friday, the opportune moment and when better
holes opened up, they just dug in. They have no clue what awaits them inside
those holes, both infested by wily wild snakes that can swallow these two, if
they don't deliver. Even that is temporary as the need of the hour was a political
noise to divert the common man's attention, the poor, hapless voter, who gets
confused. Both the Congress and the Communists need this confusion, this
distraction because it is a "Friday" for the voter. He is in a fix.
Either he decides not to vote or be on the side of the biggest noise nearby.
Those who religiously followed and drank the venom
systematically released by these two people will be wondering what hit them. Do
not worry. It would be quite a cathartic melodrama watching them sing eulogies
of their rivals and dance to the tunes of their handlers. When they spill their
honour and get booted by the new masters, it would be quite a sight to see. I
doubt there would be anyone to sympathise with them.
Sadly, none of these parties who have shamelessly insulted
the intelligence of us common people, do not have anything substantive to offer
their voters, except these noises. Our political masters revel in their victory
and we continue to be poorer and sadder.
I offer my advance sympathies to the Temperory Two!
